USJL × Global Cricket Series
Represent the USA in international tournament cricket
Global Cricket Series tournaments only happen where a host nation asks for one. St Vincent has invited the Series to bring the Windward Cup to the island, with the backing of the St Vincent Tourism Authority. The US Junior League is collaborating with the Series to send one representative USA team, selected from the strongest young cricketers who apply. Ten days of real international tournament cricket, wearing the USA name against some of the best school and academy sides in England and the Caribbean.
Building memories as a team
This is not just a cricket event. It’s about people, connections and building memories as a team. The growth in the unit I saw from start to finish was amazing.
A higher standard
Week-long tournament cricket against English cricket schools and Caribbean sides who play the game all year round. The fastest way to find out where your game really is.
Two formats, finals day and awards
T20 qualifiers, then 50-over cricket, then T20 finals day and the awards ceremony. Learn to build an innings and bowl a long spell in Caribbean heat.
Games that mean something
Qualifiers sort every squad into the Cup, Plate or Shield, so you play sides at your level all week, with silverware to chase on finals day.
Watched from home, and by selectors
Every match is streamed live online with ball-by-ball scoring, so family can watch and your best innings is on film.
How selection works
Earn your place in Team USA
This is a representative team, not a tour you simply book onto. Every player applies, and the US Junior League selects a competitive squad of 14 to take on Sedbergh, Oakham, PD Mavericks and the Caribbean’s best young cricketers.
Apply
Complete the USJL application form with your playing details: role, club or academy and recent performances. Deadline 18 November 2026. Apply now →
Assessment
Applicants are assessed on ability, form and attitude, so the squad is built to compete.
Squad selected
The 14-player Team USA squad is announced by 23 November 2026 and players are offered their place.
Prepare and fly
Selected players confirm their place, get their kit and prepare to fly to St Vincent in February 2027.
Who can apply
Under 19s: players must be 19 or under at the time of the tournament, so born on or after 13 February 2007.
Registration deadline: 18 November 2026 · Squad announced: by 23 November 2026
Who you’ll play
Up against the schools that made England stars
Two of England’s most famous cricket schools are in the field. These are the places that produce county and international cricketers, and Team USA will share a pitch, a hotel and a finals day with them.
Sedbergh School
Where Harry Brook, England’s star batter and one of the best in the world, learned his cricket.
Oakham School
Where Stuart Broad, one of England’s greatest ever fast bowlers, developed his game.
Surrey CCC
Surrey County Cricket Club’s state school programme, from one of England’s biggest counties.
PD Mavericks
Phillip DeFreitas’s team, led and coached by the former England all-rounder.
St Vincent National U19s
The hosts, playing at home on their own pitches and in front of their own crowds.
Caribbean invitational sides
Invited teams from around the region, bringing the flair of Caribbean cricket.
Team USA · USJL
A representative US Junior League team, selected by application, flying the flag for American cricket.
PD Mavericks
Phillip DeFreitas, England legend
One of England’s great all-rounders. A fast bowler who could bat, he played for England across a decade and was named a Wisden Cricketer of the Year, cricket’s oldest individual honour. Today he coaches at Leicestershire County Cricket Club, developing the next generation of professionals.
At the Windward Cup he brings his own team, PD Mavericks. For Team USA that means batting and bowling against players prepared by a former England international, and seeing up close how a professional coach runs a side over ten days.

The cricket
Seven days of tournament cricket
T20 and 50-over cricket in one tournament, where every game counts towards something. A different ground most days, in conditions nothing like home: different pitches, different pace, different heat, against players who grew up on them.
T20 qualifiers
Three T20 games settle you into the island and decide whether you play in the Cup, Plate or Shield.
50-over groups
Three 50-over games against sides at your level. Time to build an innings and bowl a proper spell.
Finals day
T20 finals across all three groups, so every squad is still playing for silverware on the last day.
Every match streamed live
Every Windward Cup game is umpired, scored ball by ball and streamed online. Parents, grandparents and friends back home can watch every run and every wicket as it happens, and players come home with their performances on film.
Where you’ll play
An international stadium and stunning club grounds
The tournament is played at Arnos Vale, St Vincent’s international stadium, right on the coast looking out to the Grenadines, and at club grounds across the island that are some of the most scenic in the Caribbean.
Arnos Vale
The island’s international stadium, five minutes from the team hotel, with the sea behind the bowler.
Cumberland
Up the leeward coast. The drive over is as good as the ground.
A different ground most days
Club grounds across the island, each with its own pitch, pace and view.
